ADULT AERIALS
Silks
Level 1: Beginner-Intermediate
This introductory class is suitable for people who are new to the aerial arts. It is also an excellent refresher on foundational skills for those with some experience.
Aerial tissu/silks is a beautiful apparatus that requires endurance, patience and strength. Including warm-up and conditioning needed to build your silks journey, this class will focus on French climbs, variations from single footlocks and double footlocks, introduction to inversions, and cross-back straddle. The class serves to strengthen the body enabling students to invert with a pelvic tilt. Time permitting the class will also introduce catchers and hiplocks.
Open
Mixed level Silks class open to students from absolute beginner (you don't know what a footlock is) to advanced. Each student will be working on skills adapted to their level and you will progress at your own pace while in a group setting.
Hammock (Aerial Sling)
Hammock (Aerial Sling)
Hammock is a fabric that is folded in half where the ends are tied at the top of the rigging point. It looks like a swing. It is a good equipment to use for people are familiar with silks and trapeze.
We will be using vocabulary from silks and trapeze onto the hammock.
This class is suitable for people who are beginners that can invert comfortably.
Trapeze
Trapeze 1
Trapeze is a short metal bar suspended by ropes. Artists can use this piece static, spinning or swinging and perform static and dynamic aerial acrobatics on it.
At our studio we teach static moves on single-point trapeze.
This class is great for beginners or the more experienced trapeze artist. We will work on tricks and transitions, as well as strength, flexibility and conditioning. There will be time for both repertoire and artistic expression while we strengthen and hang upside down! Although we will be working together as group, there will be skills that cater to individual strengths and goals.
Trapeze and Dance Trapeze
The prerequisite is for students have done at least one year of static or dance trapeze. Can do at least one pull up and and pullover on the bar.
Hoop/Lyra
Level 1
Aerial hoop, also known as lyra or cerceau is a hanging metal hoop that can be used static, swinging or spinning. Artists perform static and dynamic aerial acrobatics on the hoop as well as on the rope suspending the hoop.
This is a beginner level where students with no experience are welcome. In this class students should expect to learn various moves inside and below the hoop as well as spinning.
Aerials
Fundamentals and Footlocks
This introductory class is suitable for people who are new to the aerial arts. It is also an excellent refresher on foundational skills for those with some experience.
The session will be divided between two apparatus: silks and trapeze or aerial hoop.
Aerial silks: this beautiful apparatus takes endurance, patience and strength. After 15 to 20 minute warm-up/conditioning, this class will focus on French climbs, variations from single footlocks and double footlocks, and cross-back straddle. The class serves to strengthen the body enabling students to invert with a pelvic tilt. If time permits the class will have a brief introduction to catchers and hiplock.
Aerial hoop or trapeze: this apparatus makes an excellent strength and endurance building tool, with less initial strength required compared to silks. Student will learn weight distribution, body placement and technique to make moves look effortless.
